Target Market Determinations (TMD)
Information regarding the target markets for retail general insurance products arranged by Lesure Insurance Solutions.
1. What is a Target Market Determination?
Under the Treasury Laws Amendment (Design and Distribution Obligations and Product Intervention Powers) Act 2019, product issuers (insurers) are legally required to prepare and make publicly available a Target Market Determination (TMD) for each retail financial product they offer.
A TMD describes the class of consumers for whom the product has been designed, taking into account their typical financial situation, objectives, and needs. It also specifies distribution conditions and reporting obligations to ensure that retail clients are not sold products that are inappropriate for their circumstances.
2. How TMDs Apply to You
As your general insurance broker, Lesure Insurance Solutions reviews the relevant TMDs and Product Disclosure Statements (PDS) when recommending retail insurance products to ensure that the policy aligns with your target market profile.
TMDs apply to retail insurance products such as home, contents, landlord and private motor insurance, and to some small-business covers. If you're not sure whether a TMD applies to your policy, ask us.
